I believe that there is no such thing as an unwanted child, just unfound families.

"They came to realize family need not be defined merely as those with whom they share blood, but as those for whom they would give their blood." - D!ckens

Birth is an act of nature. Adoption is an act of God.

Hello ladies. I'm glad to see some movement here on the MS board. I sent each of you a PM. I don't have a lot of time to spend on the boards these days. I work full-time and have two beautiful children to keep me busy at home. I love seeing other people in my area that have been touched by adoption.

Hi ! I'm here. I'm not a parent yet. My husband and I got married in June and we have to wait for June of 09 before they'll let us foster to adopt but we are planning on it.
I'm in Brandon, MS which is just a few miles outside of Jackson.

Smile Mississippian too

Hi! I was starting to wonder if there were any Mississippians out there still. I'm in Columbus. We are just starting the process. We have our pre-ap with an agency and waiting to get the full application and start the home study. We hope to start by the end of the month. I'm desperately working on our family profile book.

Oh - We have family in Pearl and Raymond and visit a lot.

Oh that's cool. Did you hear about the reform they just passed for Mississippi? It was in the Clarion Ledger -- State to revamp foster care | clarionledger.com | The Clarion-Ledger
I was so excited to hear the news but I couldn't find anyone else to be excited with me!

I'm glad to know there are Mississippians out there too! I'm thinking about volunteering for one of the foster care agencies in the mean time.

I hope you get a placement soon after you get licensed

Renee

I am so glad they are redoing the foster care system. I work with them at my school and they do some of the most awful things. I won't even begin to go into them. Are you looking to foster-adopt or go through an agency?

Well, we're going to try to have one first. I have a uterine abnormality. The doctors think it'll be safe to get pregnant but there's a high risk of having pre-term labor. We want to see how one goes first. But we may adopt even if things go well.
We do know for sure that if we adopt it will be from the foster system. We want to help a child have a better life. We know it will be hard but so worth it.
