looking for sister born in 1945 or 1946

I just found out after the death of my mother that she had a child on or around 1946. I do not know many details. The baby was a girl, born with red hair, and I believe the birth was in Des Moines, Iowa, possibly at the Methodist hospital. My mother may have stayed at the Mary Crippin Home for Unwed Mothers.

Mother's name on birth certificate was ruth van winkle, and the last name of the father would have been bishop. I believe my mother was 16 years old at the time.

Any ideas on where to go or what to do would be greatly appreciated!

I would like to contact this person, and notify them of the history of cancer in our family.
