Waiting Children
Can someone please help me? I am currently looking at the waiting children lists of several agencies. On several occasions, I have asked one specific agency representative about the children. At this point, I have asked her about five children. I still have not found a child to adopt. I am afraid of being perceived as "shopping" for a child. My IA doctor tells me I'm doing nothing wrong, but I feel guilty about it. I almost think the agency rep is thinking "just pick one already!!"
My question is: how many waiting children did any of you look at before making the decision? What made you make that decision? Thanks |

It very much depends on the country you are adopting from. Some countries do not allow photo listing. Therefore, this agency could be using the pictures and info as a draw. If the country works on a referal system...ask about that. We accepted our first referals (both times, 1 adoption did not complete due to a family member coming forward). If you are finding information that you cannot accept and that is why you keep looking...that is fine. Be specific to your agency about what special needs you can and can not accept and let them guide you somewhat.
