Agencies
Does anybody have any thoughts about choosing an agency outside of ones own state. Do you think it matters in any way? Has anybody dealt with WACAP in Washington state? Thanks for such a great forum. Addy

out of state adoptions
We have adopted three times, all internationally. The first time we used an agency in our state. The second and third time we adopted waiting children listed with two different out of state agencies. We used the first in state agency to do our homestudy all three times,
I did not find it to be any harder or longer using an out of state agency. You will need an instate agency to do your homestudy (INS regulation). Call around for prices and make sure they know it is an international adoption you need the homestudy for. Sometimes the out of state agency has cooperating agencies in some states that they want you to use for the homestudy- most do not. They will forward a copy to the out of state ageny and the INS. I found that email helped greatly working with an out of state ageny. we have not used WACAP but I have only heard positive things about them. Linda |
