Adoption Advice

Hello! My husband and I are considering adopting his 5-year-old nephew from The Gambia. He is an orphan- father deceased and mother has provided written affidavit on permitting him for adoption.

We have already visited with him. We want to find out- is it necessary to be present at the embassy for his interview?

What happens after the I-600 is approved? Is that approval sent to the Dakar embassy?

Thanks for the help!

Thanks! I have attempted to e-mail and call the embassy. I have only had 1 reply and it seems no one answers their calls. Just a little confused...

If you have any questions, just let me know....would be more than happy to help and most everything is still fresh in my mind as far as paperwork...might even have some contacts in the Gambia if you want?
