Concerns regarding medical forms

Having just started down the road of adopting from Korea, my wife and I have hit our first bump. I recently started taking anti-depressants for mild depression, and we're concerned about the impact of this on our process. If you've faced this issue, could you please PM me? Thanks!

U.S. social workers have no problem with people who see therapists or take medication for mild depression, as long as there is no history of suicide attempts or hospitalizations, and no more complex diagnoses. They would rather see people get help and reach their full potential, than try to parent while feeling miserable.

However, you do need to talk with your adoption agency about how the Korean social welfare organization connected with it views treatment for mild depression at this time. You are probably OK, if your homestudy report is sensitively written, and if the agency is a good advocate for you.

Still, given the decline in the number of healthy Korean infants available for international adoption, some social welfare organizations may be getting a little more strict about health as a way of selecting the "best" parents. This is what happened with China.
