Please remember that, unless you are adopting from Korea, you can use an agency anywhere in the U.S. that works with the foreign country of interest to you. All you need is a homestudy by a provider in your state that is acceptable to the placement agency.
Also remember that not all agencies work with all countries. Moreover, if you choose a country that has ratified the Hague Convention on international adoption, you will have to choose an agency that has received Hague accreditation from the State Department. There are relatively few Hague accredited agencies at this time, so the likelihood that there would be one working in your country of choice and located in your city is fairly small. A good place to find reputable agencies is on the website of the Joint Council on International Children's Services. There is a list, by state, and there is also a list of what agencies have worked in what countries recently. The U.S. State Department website has a list of agencies that are currently Hague accredited, and it also maintains a list of agencies that have been denied Hague accreditation. Sharon
