One of my friends aunt has been in the process of adopting a little boy from Russia for three years. She is actually in Russia at this time starting her 10-day waiting period and received devastating news.

I received devastating news today. After almost 3 years of no contact, ***** birth mother has contacted the Ministry of Education and has begun the process to renew her rights as a mother.

A meeting will be held tomorrow at 10:00 am where she will meet with the representative from social services (the woman who was in court with me), the orphanage pediatrician, and a psychologist. The birth mother knows nothing about ****'s medical history, his current diagnoses, or his needs. **** and **** are hoping that the individuals meeting with her will convince her that she does not have the stability necessary to care for him and that she should sign over her rights.

Legally, I am ****'s mother except that is not finalized for 10 days. Had the birth mother made contact with the Ministry of Education on day 11, she would have no rights at all.

Please, please at 7:00 pm on Thursday your time please pray that the representatives meeting with ****'s birth mother will be able to convince her to make a decision in his best interest.

As an adoptive mother myself I know the emotional rollercoaster one is on when you are waiting on the legal system. It is a very emotional time. I just ask for your support with prayers tonight for her! She has been carrying this little guy in her heart for 3 years and now to be in the last nine days of waiting and have this happen is devastating!

She lost.

The Ministry Of Education has requested a meeting with her on Monday Morning (9/15). I'm not sure why.

She is devastated.

Did the ministry of education contact this birthmother to let her know of the proceedings, or did she just show up out of the blue???

This is one of the biggest fears in any adoption, that you will come to think of a child as your own before it is all legally done and something happens like this.
