Hi Everyone,

We are waiting for our references to email letters to our home study agency. I wish they would hurry as I am feeling impatient.

As soon as they get them all then we can begin our home study. In the mean time I am making appointments and finding out how to get certain letters for dossier. I start grad school August 25th and would like to have everything gathered by then.

How long did it take all of you to get your home studies and dossier ready?

We applied to both agencies July 2nd. So I think we are doing good. It has only been 10 days.

We had to nudge one of our homestudy references His reference was the only one we needed to be able to start our stuff.

We are adopting from Kyrgyzstan and I have finished every part of our dossier except our I171 H approval from USCIS! We started May 1st and had a goal of July 1st to have everything done. We certified our documents on July 10th, so we missed our deadline by only 9 days.

We found out we are #1 on the boy list at our agency and have everything in place, it is such a relief to be done and just waiting for USCIS to finish processing our stuff.

Sometimes you can get it done faster, but most placement agencies estimate 3 months for dossier and homestudy completion. I have found that to be a good rule of thumb in both my adoption journeys (Guatemala and Kyrgyzstan). I'm sure you'll be able to get most of it done by late August.
