Fear?

So after months of research it seems that things are suddenly coming together. On the one hand I'm elated, but on the other hand I'm suddenly very scared. I keep thinking "Are we doing the right thing?" Has anyone else suddenly experienced fear when it seemed that things were going right?

You are totally normal...don't expect those feelings to stop even after your kiddos are home! You'll double guess all these decisions for a long time. But, as with everything important in life - it would be weird if you didn't worry!

When we were pulling up to the orphanage to pick up my first daugher, I told the driver to turn around, the joke had gone far enough and I could not be a mom!

So, yes, I have had the fear, with both my daughters. I trudged through the fear, kept going, and have the two most beautiful daughters in the world!

Absolutely! I definitely felt fear, my husband felt the terror and we have two wonderful boys.

Thanks for the reassurance! When I realized today that this can actually happen in the near future, I went into total panic mode! I kept thinking about how an adoption actually happening would change our lives so much and started fearing that we won't be able to do it! I really didn't expect to feel this panicky fear. I just thought we'd be elated if it happened, LOL.

The thing about adoption is that though it may take 4 or 20 months, the uncertainty of it does not lend itself to preparing physically and mentally for a child like a pregnancy does. I had days of wanting to talk about it all the time to times where I didn't want it mentioned for fear of biting someone's head off. Talk about hormones! Even when we had our son with us in the hotel room; my husband and I looked at each other and said what are we doing? Then we realized that no new parents truly know so we relaxed a bit. Good luck!

Yes, always feel like "what am I doing!?" I think it is natural feeling that way when you are making such a big decision. I know even with my prenancies I felt that way too.
