Exclamation Notarization question

The agency that we have chosen states that we have to have every paper noterized and a price range. Dose that mean we find a noterizer and have it done with them and then send the forms in. Reason I ask because we personaly know someone who is a noterizer and that can bring cost done if we can use them.

I know it's confusing but just looking for a general answer to this one to rest my mind some.

You need to ask your agency to get the actual answer. HOWEVER, you usually get the forms notarized yourself.

I have PMed you additional info.

I agree to check with your agency, but my guess is that they have listed an average price range that people usually pay for notaries so that they can budget it. If you have a friend that is a notary, as long as they use the proper (exact!!) statements that are needed for the pages, it really shouldn't matter and anywhere you can save some money in this process you should!!

notary

Check with your bank. They will typically do it as a courtesy-no charge.

Hello,
Dh and I are starting to compile our dossier and so are getting ready to notarize our documents. The only thing that was notarized for us was our homestudy, which was notarized by the homestudy agency in their office. We are responsible for the rest. The only thing that the agency told us as for a guideline for what notary to use was to make sure that their commision doesn't expire within a year of turning in your paperwork. Also they suggested you get all of the papers notarized by the same notary because it makes it easier for certification (costs less, takes less time). We are in fact using a friend of the family to notarize who is not charging us anything as a contribution to the adoption. I would still check with your agency since all agencies are different in requirements, but it should be okay to use your friend who is a notary as long as they don't expire within the year.

I am adopting from Russia and live in NJ. With my notarization, I had a friendly notary notarize all my papers and then everything had to apostilled. I paid nothing for notary, but apostilling in NJ can cost $5.00 per document or $20.00 per document if you need it to be expedited quickly.

We haven't started yet and are planning on starting this summer, just figuring out things now so i can make it as painless as I can. About how many forms are there that need to be apostlled etc? I saw it was just the Dossier but I have no clue yet on how many pages around that one is.

Thank you and wish you the best of luck from adopting from Russia

We only need three certifications of the notarized documents. We have two packets of power of attorney documents (two pages each, but only needing one cert. per packet) for the agency and our homestudy report which needs only one cert. The other papers did not need to be certified in our case.

Kaydensmama,

What country are you adopting from? I can't tell from your post, but would think that would make a difference in the documents you need.

For Kaz we had about 25 (or so.........) pages that were notarized and each one was apostilled as well........
For Russia, we are collecting for our registration dossier, and have had 9 apostilles so far, next round next week with I think another 7-9 more forms that will also be notarized and apostilled........Not sure how many total yet, depends on what region we go to........

Not sure if that helps at all, but thought I would throw that out!!

Russia. Thank you for that. Just getting an idea of what all needs to be done through out the process..mental prepairing for it. Things seem to be less stressful when I know the steps in advance..at least some of the steps.
So your on your 2nd adoption now? May I ask how old you are and also how have you guys been to raise the funds. I ask because We are new to this and the numbers are high (I know it can be done with work though so we are doing it) Just any tips or ideas helps us with out process. Thank you..you can respond PM if you want. thank you for your time.
