Question second child from a different country?

Does anyone have experience adopting one child and then later adopting another child from a different country? Is it harder for both children to develop a sense of identity?

Has anyone adopted a child first and then had a biological child? Any experiences you would like to share would be welcome. Thanks!

Well, I had two bio kids first, then we got coustody of a relative who was older than my kids and then we adopted a little girl from Russia and now we are adopting a little boy from Poland. Our kids never had a problem with a sense of identity. They know that people are born in different places and come into the family in different ways, but all are part of our family. We kind of like having an international family. We have decorations not only from where our kids are from, but places we have visited. We did a mission trip to Mexico and so mexican stuff was added to our decor and my son did a student ambassador trip to England, Ireland, Scotland and Whales and brought back more stuff to be added. My daughter's room has a lot of Russian stuff and our son will have a lot of Polish. We add items from each culture and make them our own unique family culture.

I had a biological child and then we adopted two children from different countries, Korea and The Philippines. They are teenagers now and don't seem to have any identy problems. All have/are doing well in their lives and school and don't seem to have any problems with joining the family from different routes and countries.

I have 2 bio kids and 2 ad'ed...both from Cambodia. We had considered another country for our second ad'ed child and found some very positive aspects of this, but ended up with both kids coming from the same orphanage.

Although we're very happy about this and figure it gives the kids a shared background, I don't think it's vital that all the kids come from the same place.

The world is small. My husband was born in England and raised in Seychelles. I'm from the US, but haven't lived there in 14 years. Our kids were born in Cambodia. Far-flung we started, but we're a family and that's all that counts.

Hello,

We adopted from 2 separate eastern european countries. Some of the culture is the same but there are some differences. We look for foods, toys, books and stories from their individual countries. We also have pictures that were taken at the time of their adoptions and we talk of their individual adoption story. My kids are still young, so it is a on going process. Questions are starting to be ask and we answer as much as we can.
