Mexico Adoption
We are interested in adopting from Mexico.
There seems to be very little information about adopting from this country. I am looking for any information, agencies, attorney, etc. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much! |

Mexico adoption
Hi there!
We originally looked into adopting from Mexico since I've been travelling there 5 or 6 times a year for the last 20 years for work. Mexico is very difficult to adopt from, I think the number of adoptions to the US in 2004 was only like 70 or so. There is also a long fostering process where you have to be in Mexico before the adoption can be completed. We ended up going with Guatemala and are in the middle of the process now. I thought I'd bump this up for you in case there are some people out there who have gone through Mexico successfully. Good luck!!! Kathy & Jerry |

HI,
I've heard the same as the above poster -- very long and unpredictable wait in country. None of the adoption agencies I looked into in my area have Mexico programs. MM |

Same Here
I researched it too because we have a contact that could help in one of the orphanages over there and I found out that really that doesn't matter much. One story I heard said that their church had an orphanage they ran over there and it still took 2 years to get the kids out. The agencies I did find that do have Mexico adoptions, has a limited amount of AP's they can take (already full) because Mexico has limited US adoptions of their children. I hope this helps.

Thanks
Hi all, thanks so much for your feedback. I've been doing my research, as little as it may be out there. I had reps from agencies put it out straight for me. It is very difficult to adopt from Mexico. It is so discouraging.
Good luck and take care. |

If its meant to be!
Yes it was VERY difficult but I was succesfull and brought my baby girl home Aug. 30 2005 after having met and bonded w/her Thanksgiving week 2004... During the rough times I surrendured to the will of GOD and asked for whatever would be best for the two of us to happen... we are now together for as long as the good Lord has designed this to be... PM me for details and let your heart guide you... Good Luck!

Mexican adoptions
I'm wondering how difficult/simple this adoption will be. We are talking to an agency that says we can travel to Mexico, and bring him home when he's 21 days old. We then have to go to Mexico again after a few months to finalize the process....
Does anyone out there have recent info on the Mexican adoption process? How long it takes? ETC..??? Thanks! PM me please! |

we have adopted from Mexico
Our 3 yo son is from from Mexico (Tijuana). Please contact me if you still need info. We would recommend Adoption Alliance in CO. We used UFS before they merged with this agency and we would recommend them.

I would be surprised if you could bring your child home with you after the initial 21 days. We found the USA to be very strict and challenging about all the details. Email me if you want to.

Mexico adoption
I just read your forum. I know it has been a few years since you posted it, but I was wondering if you had any success???
My husband and I are just starting the process and searching and searching for an International Adoption Agency for Mexico, but are running into dead end after dead end... All the agencies we have called closed their Mexico department because Mexico is so corrupt. They said too many people ran into fraud situations down there. Please let me know. We would really appreciate it! |

We've abandoned the idea of adopting from Mexico because of the requirements and the difficulty to do so.
We are very excited to say that we are waiting for a child from Bulgaria and we've been told it could anytime this year! |

There are now a few very reputable agencies with Mexico programs. At least one (Catholic agency) is well-established. The others are fairly new, and could be a little riskier, but the agencies tend to know what they are doing. Look at the JCICS website if you need guidance.
