Anyone a US citizen abroad adopting internationally?

Hi to you!

We live in Norway and are just about to start the process. Can anyone offer any advice or feel able to share their experiences? I am UK, dh is US, we have one bio son. We are not military or government employed. We are looking to have Randy Barlow do the home study and Reach Out thru International Adoption as our agency. We are looking at Guatemala.
Any help or sharing would be extremely welcome.
Good luck to all.

P.S. if you like you can email on bec@thehennards.com, I know public debate about paid professionals is not allowed.
Thanks.

Welcome! I am not in your shoes, but several people in the last months have posted on this bulletin board who are adopting while living abroad. I recommend that you read through old posts and use the search function.

Good luck!
MM

Me, me, me!

I am living abroad and adopting internationally...though my situation is very different and I will have very little of use to offer you.

I'm in West Africa, and there is no home study company or agency to help me here. Luckily, my French is good and the bureaucrats tumble at my sweet smile (I wish!). I suspect that if you have an agency, the complications that come with your situation will not be too much worse than if you were in the US and adopting internationally.

You can always PM me if you have any specific questions.

Good luck!
