Yevgenia,
Each country's regulations are a bit different, so you would need to have a model home study from the particular country that your prospective adoptive parents are adopting from. There is no one template for international adoption. For instance, my home study for Korea covered rather different topics and themes than a home study for Ukraine or China. Good luck! MM |

Our international agency has asked us to have our local agency fax the domestic homestudy draft and they would assist the local agency in determining the additional needs for our country of choice. If you are working with a particular family, who has already selected an international agency and determined their country, you may find this the most productive way to go.

It depends on the country.
China, for example, does NOT allow homestudies to be done by individual social workers or for-profit agencies. They MUST be done by licensed, not-for-profit agencies. Sharon

I work for a small private agency, but we do home studies as a local partner for a large agency in another part of the country--i.e. large agency in the east, but families in middle america who want to go thru them come to us to get their studies done. Our state requires agencies to be a licensed child placement agency. There were no further requirements. The large agency that we go with has specific guidelines for each country. We have contact with their country specialists throughout the process to help with all the technicalities that we need to be aware of for each individual process and they are so helpful. They previe wour rough drafts before they are finalized as well. Its a perfect partnership for us.
