doing a dual dossier, how to get fingerprinted, anyone did this?

Hi to the Group

My husband and I were originally signed up to adopt from ARmenia but our agency is now telling us that it doesnt look like a viable option.

We decided to also put in our papers to russia to adopt and do a dual dossier.

we were fingerprinted in spring 2005 to adopt from Armenia and received an I 171H form of approval. it's been about six months and we just sent in our homestudy and new I600A form to the same immigration office but this time for Russia.

Does anyone know that if you file two i600A forms(dual dossier), do you have to be fingerprinted twice? CAn you fingerprints from the firstapproval transfer over to your second approval if it's within the 15 mo. time period of date taken?

Thanks in advance,
Amy

You can have your I171H moved from one country to another, You cannot have it in two countries at once. You need to file an I-824 form It is a confusing form, because it has multiple purposes. I do not think they are too picky, just give it your best shot. Also, include a copy of your approved I171H.

Hi kay

Thanks very much for your information. tomorrow morning I will call my local BCIS office to find out the scoop. It's been frustrating to say the least. Thanks for your time and interest.

Hi Amy,

I may be wrong about this but I do believe that you can have 2 seperate I-6ooas for two different countries. You would just have to have 2 seperate dossiers including homestudies for each country. Your fingerprints are good for any and all adoptions for 15 months, so you should not have to do them seperately. These days with most of EE being closed or very slow, it is smart to do this if you don't mind the added expense. I would confirm this with the social worker who is doing your homestudy and call the BCIS office too to make sure. Let us know what you find out. Good Luck!!

Hi Charlotte

I hope youre well. Thanks very much for posting to me. We did do two I600As but the first time I didnt add extra documentation that we have I171H approval already. Today I Fedexed out information to my local BCIS office about my prior approval, and tomorrow first thing I will get on the phone with mylocal office.

Thanks again, I'll let you know what transpires.

171-h

Amy,

I had the same situation. We started our adoption in Russia and was approved- 171-H. We then switched to Guatamala and was told that we couldn't have two 171-H lingering in different countries. We had to choose one. We needed to fill out and send form I-824, copy of the 171-H and a check for 195.00 so they could make the change. I know that the USCIS procedures vary from state to state, but I think the adoption process is handled in the same manner regardless of state.

Good Luck,
Angie
