Liberian adoption?
Hi! My husband and i have just begun our adoption process - completing our home study this month, submitted our I-600A and agency application. I was wondering if anyone else out there has adopted from Africa - specially Liberia - and if you might have any pearls of wisdom for us?
Thanks! Tanya |

I am! I am! I'm adopting from Africa, but Mali, not Liberia. I also live in Mali (though am American and will soon move back to America). I actually don't have many pearls of wisdom, but would be happy to answer questions as they come up - especially if and when it comes time to travel to West Africa.
Good luck! |

We are also looking into Liberian adoption. We are still looking at agencies, but so far, have only found 1 that does adoptions in Libera. Are there anymore that we might have missed?
Any info you can give us would be a great help. Thanks. Cindi |

Cindi -
We are adopting through Americans for African Adoption. I've only found one other agency - Children Concerned. I found AFAA via the web on my own. A friend has many friends who have adopted through Children Concerned. I REALLY like the woman who started AFAA. She has adopted 2 african children. After she adopted her first and all the stress and difficulties involved she decided to start her own agency so she can help others and they wouldn't have to go through what she went through to rescue a child from Africa. If you go to the site, click on the "articles" button. Her stories will break your heart! When I finished reading them last night I immediately went to drugstore.com and ordered vitamins, etc. to be mailed to her so she can take them to the children on her next trip! I hope this helps. I'm so new to the process that this is about all I have to offer at this point! Keep me posted if you go forward with the adoption. It would be nice to hear from someone who is on the same path. Hi Jackobanzi!
Wow - you live in Mali!?!?! What is life like there? How is the adoption process? Each country seems to differ drastically re; adoption policies. We will not travel to pick up our our child/children - they will be escorted to the states for us. How far along in the process are you? Tanya |
