Switching from domestic to international adoption?

Has anyone ever switched from the domestic adoption process to international?

We have a completed home study (domestic) and are working with our local county social services department to fost/adopt. The process has been long and hard. We have submitted our home study for at least 6 children anywhere in age from newborn to two years old over the last 6 months, with no luck. It is so disheartening. I know six months isn't very long, but after one 1/2 years of just completing the classes and getting our social worker to finish our home study...it feels like forever!

Any advice about switching would be much appreciated!

We switched from domestic to international...but we haven't been working through the state and are just beginning our homestudy.

6 months can feel like a long time...

Praying everything works our well and quickly

We nearly did, we got our homestudy thru the state for adoption which required we allow our state 3 months for placement - we never got any calls, then we spent 2 months sending out inquiries to other states on children off photolistings, probably 25+ I sent out, nothing. Then we decided to go domestic and we were matched in less then 2 months. We were gettingn pretty frustrated though and the week we got matched we had been in conversations with our homestudy agency about revising the homestudy for international. If we adopt again, we will likely go international.

We have just switched over from domestic to international. We tried domestic for four years and had a birthmother back out seven days before the baby girl was born. We were heartbroken and had gone to 2 months of doctors appts. with birthmother and had heard heart beat and seen ultrasound pix.
We decided to switch over because we just didn't want to wait or have another baby fall through. Hope this helps you. We are at peace and waiting for CIS to approve us now.
Best of Luck... Waiting is never easy! :
Sandy
