Has anyone adopted from Korea?

I'm interested in adopting from Korea. I'd love to hear about your experiences, agency recomendations, how long was the wait, did you travel, etc.

Thank you!!!!

We are waiting on a referral from Korea. There are a lot of good reasons to choose Korea, but the wait times are getting longer and longer. Feel free to PM me too if you have questions.

The wait times for Korea are not nearly as bad if you are willing to adopt a boy

We adopted from Korea and we were very happy with the entire process. We did not have a long wait. We did not travel, our baby boy was escorted and we picked him up at the airport. He came home at a little over 6 months and was very healthy and it was obvious that he had been very well cared for in Korea.

We actually really had originally wanted to adopt a girl but because we have a biological daughter, we couldn't specify. Now I am so glad we couldn't because I just can't imagine not having our little guy - he is just the happiest, sweetest thing ever.

If I were to further add to my family, I would adopt from Korea again in a heartbeat. It is a really excellent program.

My husband and I adopted our son from Korea almost 3 years ago. We had a great experience and it took us from start to finish 10 months. He came in at 8 months old very healthy and happy. We picked him up at the airport he came in with escorts form the adoption agency. We truly loved our agency [Edited To Remove Agency discussion] and we are in touch with them all the time helping them plan their Annual Summer picnics. I have made alot of friends through the agency. We plan on adopting again through the same agency and starting sometime this summer.

If you have any questions just let me know.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All agency specific discussions must be done in private. Discussing agency specific timelines processes, dossier preparation time, application process time, referral times and fees fall under this guideline.[/b]

Please be advised, as this is a LONG standing rule, those who choose to discuss agencies specifically will have their accounts terminated IMMEDIATELY.

Unless there was something other than what I received, what mjkkbbr was specifically speaking of was the waiting children's program. SHe did mention an agency, but other than saying she used this agency I see nothing that requires her post being edited. I have copied and pasted what I received in e-mail form and it is this

"I highly recommend the Korea program and especially the waiting child programs."

Prior to that she mentions what agency she used, as did I. She neither recommends nor slanders this agency. All she is doing is advocating for a particlar country and it's waiting children's program. I didn't realize adovcating for waiting children was against the rules. Shelley

You are NOT permitted to discuss any specific agency (good or bad) publically. This includes mentioning your agency and then your time line (which was done in that post) OR commenting on their service, children available through them etc etc etc.

This has been a long standing policy and failure to abide by it will result in the closure of accounts.
