DH and I are just beginning the adoption process -- actually way back in the research stages. We have only been married a month and DH won't be 25 until December, so we are obviously a ways away from even applying. In my research I have come across 3 agencies that do international adoptions in Kansas -- Special Additions in Stilwell, Dillon in Wichita, and Children's Hope in Overland Park. I would be very interested in hearing anything any of you have to say about any of these agencies -- good or bad. Also, any information about the particular country that you adopted or are adopting from. If there are any other agencies that do adoptions in Kansas, I wouldn't mind to hear about that either. Thanks in advance for any help.

Do remember that Korea is the ONLY country which requires you to use an agency in your jurisdiction.
With most countries, you can choose an agency anywhere in the U.S. for the placement, as long as you have a local homestudy. Remember that Korea has a three year length of marriage requirement. Some countries do not have a length of marriage requirement. Also, not all Korea programs have weight restrictions, and most other countries care only that you are healthy. Sharon

Thanks for your reply. Yep, I know there are probably other countries that might be a better fit for us, but DH has his heart set on Korea -- right now it isn't like we can do anything about adopting anyway, really, since DH will be going to nursing school so he can get a better job, and he's got to complete that before we can begin the process anyway.
I'm just trying to gather information now so our decision and the process are that much easier then. I've been looking at some other programs and I think I'm likely to find one I like better than Korea, but DH may be harder to convince. But I'll keep trying -- dieting constantly for the next two years doesn't sound like my idea of a good time! ![]()
