We want to know if it is possible to adopt a Cuban baby? We are not sure if this is possible and if it is we do not know who we should speak to about it.
PLease give me some advice.

The Cuban government does not allow adoptions outside of Cuba. In fact, Cuba is the best off country in the Caribbean. Life expectancy (compared to the other countries) is fairly high, and the government helps parents care for their children. Children do not normally end up in orphanages, but instead in the homes of extended families, if their parents cannot care for them.

Adopting a Cuban child

My wife and I are also interested in adopting a Cuban child...if anyone knows how we can do this, we would really appreciate any information you could provide.

I am Cuban myself (born, raised there, brought to the U.S. in the early 70s) and would love to save a child from the misery of living in Cuba.

Incidentally, Cuba is NOT the best off country in the Caribbean as the previous poster stated. Cuba's economy lags that of other countries (Puerto Rico, Aruba, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, the Dominican Republic) and people's dissent is silenced by the government.

Those that think that the Cuban government is kind to its children should know that child prostitution is common in "El Malecon" - supported by European tourists - and that the Cuban government turns a blind eye to it. Children do this because it's often the only way they can support themselves and their families.

Yes, there is a high level of literacy and a long life expectancy, but it's a miserably life with little hope of using one's education to furthering one's goals. I would do almost anything to save a child from living this kind of long, sad life.
