Expired FBI Fingerprints for INS

Hi there,
Because my husband and I waited for a year to adopt in Vietnam, and haven't completed our Russian adoption, our FBI fingerprints have now expired. Does anyone know the new fee required to renew these and how to do it?
Thanks!

ins fingerprinted

Hi,
Sad to say that it costs $50. for each person fingerprinted. Of course you know that if you are adopting from another country you need a new I600a filed and will be required to have new fingerprints done at that time.
Hope it helps. By the way how did your Vietnam adoption go?
Vicki

Fingerprints again

Vicki is right. It is $50.00 per person to get refingerprinted. We did not have to fill out another I600A though. We also did not make another appointment. We just went into INS early one morning knowing th possibility that we would have to wait all day to get our prints done. Luckily it was a slow day and we were in, fingerprinted, and out in less than 45 minutes.
We were told by INS workers that the reason for having to be refingerprinted is because INS only saves the fingerprints for one year. They are in the process of updating their system to save fingerprints forever so in the future people will never have to be refingerprinted.
Hope this helps,
Kathy

Yes, you have to pay the $50 to get re-fingerprinted, but you do NOT have to file a new I-600A. You can file an I-864 which requests for the approval to be re-cabled to a different embassy. I think the cost is somewhere around $175 for this. If an approval hasn't been cabled, your local office should change the countries for no charge.
