Hi All

Can anyone help me.

I'm british male wanting to adopt as a single parent... and am finding it really hard to access correct information on what countries let single men adopt.

Can anyone send me a list (that would be a dream come true :-)! )....

At the moment I have the following...

China - boys yes... girls only if you are over 40.
india - boys only
Belize
Brazil
Haiti ? various websites say different things
Ecuador
Columbia
Liberia
Russia

Can anyone confirm the above... and add any more?

You can add Ukraine to that list, although at times they can be very difficult for single fathers and you have to be persistent.

I'm not sure I would recommend Liberia, even if they allowed single males to adopt! Too much going on in that country!

While it is not against the law for a single man to adopt from Russia, I think you will find MANY roadblocks in most regions to your adoption. I've actually only heard of single men successfully adopting from the Ukraine, and even then it seemed to have been a real struggle!

I know you're in Britain - do you guys have any private adoptions available to you, where you make an arrangement with a birthmother to raise her child? That would probably be your best bet.

Guatemala allows single men to adopt...but it can be difficult.

I don't know if citizens of England can adopt from Guatemala?

I dont know anything about international adoption.
But I'm from the U.S and plan to adopt as a single male.
So the U.S allows it.
