Hi there!
My DH and I had the first visit of our home study this afternoon and we were wondering if anyone could share how long it took for their homestudy to be complete. When we turned in our paperwork yesterday they were amazed at how complete it was (we started about 10 days getting it all together) so we are only lacking the finished homestudy, our physicals which are scheduled and turning in the INS form... we are going to hand carry it to our office in Memphis and wait to get fingerprinted. Any tips from anyone? We are excited and nervous all at the same time! We've asked for a little boy between 9 and 24 months. Good luck to everyone and thanks for any help! Alli |

In addition to the forms, your HS agency would most likely ask for some references and also run required background checks (varies from state to state). The speed with which these background checks are performed often determines how soon your homestudy will be completed. I've encounered several situations in which rough draft of the HS was ready two weeks before check results were in and social worker could submit the finished homestudy to USCIS.
Good luck, Victoria |
