US adoption from Canada
Does anyone have experience with U.S. citizens adopting from Canada? As a result of an online posting, we have been in contact with a birthmom who lives in canada. We have not heard of anyone doing private adoption from Canada. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Remember that it is an international adoption...
... and that you will need to get USCIS approval, not just homestudy approval. You will also need to meet Canada's adoption requirements.

At this time, due to Canada having signed Hague, Americans are not allowed to adopt Canadian children unless no person is found in Canada that can adopt this child. That means that, unless this child has a serious disability, your chances of adopting are about zero.
