My wife and I would appreciate any guidance whether the INS accepts children from a country where by law the adoptive parents can only be given legal guardianship since adoption is against the law (Morocco).
We have been guardians of two girls for two years and would like to formalize the adoption process and naturalization. They are under eighteen, I am a US citizen but not residing right now in the US since I am on assignment abroad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Martin and Wafa Bentz |

I am no expert...but we have obtained guardianship of three little girls over the past six years from India. After arrival in the United States...adoption was done here. India does not grant adoption to children who are going outside of the country...only guardianship. INS did not have any problems with it as long as Interstate Compact was honored for our state and the children had orphan status. Karen
