Single Male International Adoption
Hoping that someone might be able to assit me. I am trying to set up my first adoption. As a single male, I'm finding it very difficult to do. So far 2 agencies have told me that countries are not willing to allow single male adoptions. Does anyone know of any country that will?
I understand that Russia, China and the UK have presently stopped. I feel at a loss and getting discourged.. Please help. David |

I think I have heard that Vietnam, Honduras and Belarus will also accept single men.
Don't give up hope!!! Do some research on the net- I am positive that this can happen for you! |

I also found this for you...
"Yes. In fact about 1/3 of all of the children adopted from China are adopted by single parents. However, according to U.S. INS requirements, they must be at least 25 years old. As of Feb 2001, single parents must submit a document stating that they are not homosexual to comply with provisions of the China Adoption Law. As of December, 2002, CCAA issued new regulations restricting the number of single parents to 5% of that agencies total quota. This will severely limit adoptions by single parents from China. Agencies are setting up waiting lists for the next year or two and suggesting single parents consider other countries that accept single parent. See the guide that can be ordered from the International Concerns Committee for Children for a current list of countries allowing single parents to adopt".

David.
I don't have any specific info to add to what's already been give but I wanted to tell you GOOD LUCK! It's been easier for me as a single female, but I'm still excluded from many countries because of my age, religion, and marital status. And Korea doesn't allow adoptive parents to be more than 30 pounds overweight! I just have to wonder that for each person who is excluded based on some criterion, if there is a child who lives forever in an orphanage.
