Hi, I have a very unique situation and I don't know how to go about it. I'm 21 years old and I'm a citizen of Brazil. I have lived in the United States for 10 years. My mother moved here to get a PHD and met my stepfather. My stepfather is American. I had a J2 visa and now I have an F-1 student visa so that I can finish school. My mother is currently in Brazil. She had a 2 year home residency rule since the Brazilian government payed for her PHD in the States. I have never been in this country illigaly. My mother is not a citizen yet because of this rule, she will be one after she returns and finished the paper work for the INS here. My stepfather has been a father to be since I was 10, he has done evrything for me. I have asked him to adopt me and he agreed to with a big smile. I don't know how to go about it because I'm not an American citizen. I know the process is called Adul Adoption but that is all I know. Please help me with any information that you have, please!
