Hi. My name is Denise and I adopted a baby girl from Guatemala last spring. I brought her home on April 1st. The entire process took almost 9 months, from start to finish. I signed my contract with my agency on July 1, got my referral for Abby on December 4, adoption was final March 3, traveled March 29th to get her.

It has been an incredible experience for me. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

It's nice to read about other families who have adopted or are in the process of adopting.

Congratulations on getting Abby home.
Our daughter came home October 28th 2002 she was 7 yrs old when she came home.We adopted from Inida.Our process was 9 months start to finish.We are now waiting to bring our 3 yr old son home from India.I know the joy our daughter has brought us and the joy our sweet son will bring us as well.

My husband and I adopted our son Matt from Korea and he has been here since May 14,2002. We got him when he was 8 months old and he has brought such joy to our lives. I would love to do it again all the paperwork and waiting is worth it once they put him in your arms for the first time. Enjoy your time with her it goes so fast, my son is two years old already.

Thanks for the warm welcome. This has been an incredible experience for me. Abby's Recognition Hearing (for the state of Missouri) is November 7th. It will be a big celebration for us!

We hope all is well with you and your new arrival.

My husband and I have just started to process to adopt a baby from Guatemala. We have completed our two sessions for the Home Study and should have our fingerprints back 02.01.05 - we live in Arizona and you have to be certified to adopt here. We have paid to have our Home Study expedited and therefore from when our fingerprints come back the Home Study will be filed within 48 hours, at that point we can file our I600A with a referral letter from our Home Study agency. We are in the process of getting our dossier ready to go to Guatemala..... I have a couple of questions I'm really hoping you can help us with;

1. Can you remember how long from the time your Dossier was submitted that you got your baby home?

2. Our Baby Girl (Katherine) was born on 12.08.2004 and weighed 6lbs we are going out to see her on Jan 23rd 2005 for the first time - did you go out and visit? If so was it really hard to come home without her?

3. Do you have any words of concern/advice?

We'd really love to hear from you and again we hope everything is going really well for you.

I'm an older single Mom of a wonderful daughter from China. Becca came home when she was 18.5 months old and I was "only" 51. I'm 62 now and have a thoroughly delightful 12 year old! We are having a great time.
