Hello All,

Due to the Tsunami in East Asia, the Canadian government has stopped fees for adoption. I wanted to know if anyone knew the whole story. Does this fee waiver apply to all adoptions to all countries or was it only specifically for this situation? It's about 950 in fees on top of the 22 thousand for China, so if we could save the thousand that would be good.

Also does anyone know if the bill has been passed or if there is another reading where we can get a tax credit in Ontario, as there is in Quebec and many states in the USA?

Hi. I don't know if you heard already but fed. gov't has just announced in that they are planning $10,000 tax breaks for persons adopting in 2005. They have not yet specified what specifically you will be able to claim so make sure that you keep all your receipts. I am adopting from Kazakhstan which costs more than China so I was really happy to hear this!
