I wonder if I may be able to glean some insight from this forum!

My husband and I will begin our home study next week for the adoption that we are pursuing. We would like to adopt a sibling group from Colombia of 2-3 children between the ages of 0-7. We have no children at home. Neither of us have Colombian heritage but I do speak Spanish nearly fluently.

For any of you that were adopted as an older child (3+ years of age), what things would you recommend to a prospective adoptive parent that could help us be more prepared and sensitive when we bring our children home?

Holly, I am the adoptive mom of 2 girls. My youngest came home at the age of 3.5 years old. I do not know if yours is a two trip program or just one, but when I went to visit my daughters, I took a photo album of home, their bedroom, their school, family members etc. The caregivers woud show them the pictures quite frequently to get them familiar with their new surroundings. I wrote in Bulgarian what every picture was about. So, when they came home, they were very excited, because it is what they had saw in the picture. Hope that helps.
