Does anyone know the laws regarding age requirements to adopt internationally? I am aware that a few countires do not have an age limit, my husband and I are younger parents wanting to adopt, both under 25. If anyone knows the age for USCIS or any other problems I might face, please let me know.

The USCIS age is 25. I just worked with someone who was single and 24, but turned 25 in June. She had already sent in her paperwork and done her I600A. This was allowed but before you can do your I600 one of you has to be 25 years old. But if you or your husband are close to 25 there is no harm getting together your paperwork so that when the time comes, you will have a jump start.

For singles, the age is 25. For couples, the official age is 21. I called the department and asked. That being said , most countries have a 25 year age minimum. We filled out all of our paperwork before we turned 25 and had it not been for delays in Russia, would likely have had children home before we turned 25.

DH and I are both under the age of 25, and are currently in the process of adopting from Guatemala. I had to ask my agency about our ages and they even confirmed w. our Guatemalan attny. Guate is a country that is very flexible on age. Hope this helps.
