i am looking into starting thye process of international adoption from Russia.

i'm already a single parent and would like to know how much the process costs and if you have to pay it all in one go.

i'm sorry if this is a rude question but it is one that i need to know the answer to.

if anyone is prepared to i would love to know. i am thinking of apotping from Russia

Adoption from Russia generally is about $25,000-$35,000. You definitely should not have to pay this all at once -any agency requesting a large sum up front (or even before you have received a referral of a child) should be a huge red flag. There are several reputable agencies who work in Russia. Unfortunately, many of us currently in process of adopting from Russia are caught up in delays with adoption agencies re-accreditation and NGO registration. Make sure you choose an accreditated agency and do alot of research before making your decision. Check out www.jcics.org/Russia.htm.

Please post your questions in the russia forum. There is a lot of activity and lots of single moms that have returned home with successful adoptions completed.
When you begin talking to agencies, be sure to find out what their cost quote covers - many do not include the travel and that can be quite pricey depending on time of year and other variables. If you budget for $35,000 (for one child) you should be in the ballpark at this stage!
