My husband and I are starting the adoption process and have been advised that because we are also awaiting fertility treatment (IVF through egg donation) that we may not be eligible to adopt.
We are currently 1 year into a 6 year wait for fertility treatment but we both feel that we have lots of love, support and stability to offer a child/siblings who so desperately need it. If anybody else has come across this situation please could you tell me what happened....... Thank you!

The agency I used didn't allow parents to adopt while pregnant or within the first year. Their belief was that the bonding process that must happen is very intensive (it is) and it could be very difficult with a pregnant mother of infant. I don't think (not sure) that they facilitated 2 child adoptions.
I've 'heard' that many agencies don't allow pregnancy while adopting. Don't know the validity of that statement. This wasn't something I needed to worry about, as I'm a single adoptive mom. |
