Asian adoptee input
Hello,
My husband and I are looking forward to adopting a little girl from China. We have requested a 2-3 year old girl, simply because most people want/need babies, and we are not concerned about that. I would love to hear any perspective from any other Asian born children that were adopted out to Americans/Europeans. China is very new at adopting out of their own country, I believe they started in 1994, long after the "one child law" came into effect there. So, there really are no boards on China adoption for adoptees. However, Im aware that many children adopted from Korean orphanages are now in their 20s or possibly older. I really am searching to do right by my daughter and I would love input from anyone that is Asian and adopted out of their motherland. Anything would be greatly appreciated from your perspective. Thank you.

late~
Karen,
Sorry this reply is late. I'm an adoptee from Korea, also involved in Social Work (International Adoptions.) I'd love to talk with you if you have questions, advice or need someone to listen! Hope all is going well with your little girl. -Emily |
