age limits of adopted child
I am investigating adopting my wife's child from Ukraine. He is 23 years of age. Is there any problems with proceeding down this avenue? Are there age limitations on U.S. citizens adopting Ukranians?

It is my understanding that you can adopt a child internationally who is above the age of 16 if they are biologically related to a child you have already adopted. For instance, my son is 2.5 years old and if he had a 16 or 17 year old sibling that was suddenly available for adoption we would be able to proceed. Perhaps this pertains to biological relations, in general. I suggest contacting an immigration attorney or someone who is well versed in international adoption.

I think with his age this wouldn't really be considered an adoption but an immigration. I would contact INS (USCIS) about immigratinga family member.
