I was adopted at birth from South Korea in 1977. My adoption was not through an adoption agency. Although my birth mother was married, she did not include my birth father's name in the apotion process. I was told that everything went through the courts. I have the original documents from Korea. I have my birth mother's name and the name of the small town where I was born. I was also told that I have quite a few older siblings. I was told about the family's living conditions and why I was given up for adoption. My family doesn't like to talk about it much. I am not angry about being given up for adoption. I would like to know how my birth family is doing. I'd also like to know my birth family's medical history now that I have children of my own. My children only have my husband's side of the medical history. Can anyone tell me how I can start the process of looking for my birth family since I was not adopted through an actual agency?
