Approved but no children

My husband and I have been approved to adopt for more than a year and we still do not have a child placed with us for adoption. We subscribe to the Picture Book and even became a therapeutic foster home. What are we doing wrong?

Are you inquiring about all children you are intersted in and then sending your homestudy? There are lots of children listed on the Indiana SNAP website. Are you also looking out of state? What is your caseworker doing to help you? And since you are also a foster home, you still have had no foster children placed with you? That's amazing. What county are you in?

Call your caseworker and let him/her know that you want to keep in touch with them so they can let you know where you "stand." We did that and our caseworker was very helpful. It didn't take more than 3 months after we were approved. Also, if you are waiting for an infant, that could be why you are still waiting. If that is the case, you might consider legal risk, meaning they could place an infant with you prior to termination with biological parents and then you would be able to adopt when termination takes place.
