Question de Facto parent status

Does Indiana allow foster parents to file for de Facto parent status? I haven't been able to find anything about it.

Not technically, but you can file for intervenor status. We've been told that most judges don't grant it, and it can get you in 'trouble' with DCS. We did it and we were successful in one case, but we also took it another level and filed for adoption before TPR had been granted. It was very complicated case to start with.

Our other case, we'd like to, but our lawyer up till now suggests we hold off.

One thing DH and I would like to see is something like De Facto status being a common practice here. Something we want to work on after our adoption days are over.

The Indiana de facto law specifically excludes foster parents.

We're just foster parents. We don't need to have a voice.
