Unhappy Anyone else still waiting

We have been licensed since June '08 still no placement. We live in a small county but are close to serveal other counties. Emailed the regional manger and was bacially told it was our age range and county.
Guess my question is, is it time to switch to an agency. We are looking into Meridian Services. Has anyone here gone though them. Feel free to pm about them. Thanks.
Really disappointed at this point. May just forget the whole thing.

Our age range is 0-6 girls; 0-3 boys. We recently got put on the list in another county but were told that they usually don't have any trouble placing this age range in county. So basically don't hold your breath waiting for the phone to ring.

We currently have no foster care placements, and we are set up to take children ages 0-11. We have room for 5 more children. we have 2 at home that belong to us. I talked to our case worker and she said she was going to let Marion county know we would like to be called if they have a placement, we where also told we could get calls from Tipton, Hamilton and Howard countys..... still waiting.......

We have not yet been waiting a month. But we are only open to birth-2 years. We were told there is a big need in our area, so we will see...

So it kind of slow all over IN. It nice to know I'm not alone in my waiting. I'm trying my best to have patients in all of this. The support here helps.

From the time we started the training classes to the time we received our first call, it was 1 1/2 years. It was frustrating, and we weren't sure if there was really a need for us to foster. However, we finally were able to meet cps staff at a support group. It was after we finally were able to meet them that they started calling.

So, my suggestion is to see if there is some sort of support group in your area. You may be able to meet someone there.

Wow! I really hope we can do something before we have to wait that long. Don't think I could be patient that long.
We just found out that there is a support group in a neighboring county. We missed this months meeting but hope to go next month. Maybe we will meet the right people.

It's not any better with the agencies. We're with an agency, similar age range to yours, and have had 1 placement in almost 19 months. It's been almost 10 months since that placement came.

Kids just aren't coming into care.

Wow. I didn't know there were such a surplus of foster parents. I just completed the paperwork and got finger printed in Allen Co.

Is there anyone from there? Is it as slow here too?

I did notice there were quite a few people in the orientation meeting I attended, but you always here how there is such a need for foster parents, I never dreamed there would be a shortage of kids!

I'm surprised that its not any better with an agency. I've recently read some newspaper articles about how child services isn't removing as many children, everywhere. They are doing in home services instead. Budget cuts are happening everywhere even at the expense of children.
