Home Inspections, what does it entail?

do they look to see if you have things locked up? do they talk to you about parenting styles ? check water temp etc? I think things are pretty good, just wanting to see if there is anything else I can prepare for.

thank you

What I've heard

I've heard that the actual inspection of the house is a ten minute walk thru, if that. They're checking to make sure that your chemicals and medications are locked up (behind a kid-safe handle/cabinet). They're looking for at least one fire extinguisher per floor, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and safe walking paths.

The majority of their visit, I've been told, is about discussing the paperwork you have to fill out beforehand in your packet.

Hope that helps.

Ours was nothing! But, we have had 2 home studies in the past 3 years, so they may have been more lenient... She asked if we had firearms, asked if the chemicals and meds were locked up (but did not look to make sure) and did a quick walk through. She did not even check for a fire extinguisher!

But, I am not sure if that is the norm.

Good luck!
