Anyone NO a licenced foster parent..court appointed???
I just wondered if any of you were NOT licenced foster parents. We are NOT.. We were court appointed TWICE (b/c we knew the kids mostly). I was just wondering, if you aren't, have you been able to adopt the children that you had.

Can you fill me in?
Can you explain what you mean by a "court appointed" foster parent? I'm new to this and am trying to find my way through all the ways that I must proceed. My situation is worsened by having the kids (my nephew and niece) being wards of another state (OH) from the one that I live in (IN).
Thanks! |

Even if you already have custody, it is a good idea to go through the steps (such as taking the classes) to get licensed. That entitles you to all of the resources available to foster parents as well as giving you the opportunity to get to know others in the same situation.

per diem
if you are not licensed, but appointed by the court do you get per diem. I have heard that in Indiana they are placing kids in relative placements and non licensed homes to keep from paying per diem. You do not state what state you are from.

I am in Indiana but the children that I am trying to get are in Ohio. As far as I am finding, I will be governed by Ohio law b/c they have responsibility for them. I am unsure what happens once the Interstate Compact goes through... if that means that once IN accepts care of the children and places them in my home, that I'll be under IN law???
