Stupid Newbie Question?

Ok, pardon my stupidity, but who is Mary Hinds and what does she do?

Lightbulb

Mary Hinds is the contact person, here in Indiana, that deals with all the adoption stuff -- the Mutual Consent Registry, the Confidential Intermediary Program, etc. I can't recall, off hand, what her actual title is -- but she's the "go to" gal.
I've personally never had any direct contact with her. I know all my paperwork for getting my non-id info, and registering for the Mutual Consent Registry, went thru her, but it was all paperwork....no direct contact. When I applied for the Confidential Intermediary Program, my CI, Lori Baxter, handled everything, so I didn't have any contact with her, then, either.
Rknotts -- are you having issues with her????
Hugs,
Sally

Exclamation

Well, to say that I am surprised, would be an inaccuracy. Not that I have had any personal issues or experiences, I have always felt there was something perhaps a little "amiss" shall we say, with the way things are executed within the Indiana system.
If there is anything I can do.....or any help I can offer, just PM me and I will do whatever is in my power to do!
Hugs,
Sally

I just got the papers to request my non-id information. Should I worry? Since I know basicly nothing, I figure whatever they tell me at this point is going to be more than I knew before.

I would not worry too much... From my understanding she is now being observed to ensure proper service is being done...

I have had no problem

I have spoken to Mary several times. SHe has been very helpful and has gotten me my non-identifying info immediately. I think she is in a very hard position because of all the confidentiality laws. I was adopted through the Children's Bureau in Indianapolis. My social worker, who happens to be the VP of the agency, has worked often with mary and is doing what they can to get me what I need while protecting my bmom's privacy. I already know she wants no contact. My personal experience has ben very good. SHe has helped direct me as to where I needed to go to try to get more info.

Hey Robert, its me Heather. I bet you thought I fell off the face of the earth. I don't get on the computer as much as I use to. My thoughts on Mary Hinds.... I know when I applied for my identifying/non identifying info I received all the info she had in just a couple of weeks. I have heard very good things about her. so you still have no more information than what you did?

Somethings amiss....

I received my non-id info from Mary as well, but I have a feeling that some things were changed. I don't know if she purposefully sent me wrong information or if she had no idea. When I called her to ask her about it she was very brief and wouldn't give me a straight answer. Just left to wonder....

Hello Heather, I miss talking to you... email sometime...

As for Mary, I have some inside information that she is not above board and so some of the information that she is in charge of may not being properly handled...

So then, it may not be getting shared either...

I always thought it was strange that there is only one person who handles everything....

Anyway, any thoughts on how long it takes to get the non-id info or has anyone had a lot of trouble getting it? Over the past 4 years I have requested it 3 times. I call, she sends the forms, I mail them back the next day, and I never hear from her again. I haven't said anything to her about it on the phone, when you only have one person to deal with you don't really want to get them annoyed at you. I sent of the forms again about 5 weeks ago. So far, nothing. Is there a way to check to see if you have actually been put on the state registery?

I know that this is an old thread - but the first two times I reuested info - she told me my file was empty. I then got her on the phone and she said all that was in there was a picture of my a-mom, a-dad, and 2 a-siblings before they got me, and a nice letter from their church.
I tired the third time and actually go some medical info. My thing is - either she wasn't being truthful before or the info just appeared like magic.
Just my experience!

I registered over 3 months ago and have not heard whether or not they received my info. I wonder if I should try to register again.

apparently she is still not doing her job and nothing is going to be done about it...

I would request the info again and hope for the best...

good luck to us all...

I actually ordered my stuff one time and got it and then missplaced it so I had to order it again a few years later, and she said that there was not any information... it is like it disappeared... Probably one of those water pipe bursts or fires that most adoptees are told happen to our files to keep us from constantly bothering these people while they are trying not to do their job.
