I'm amazed. I had good luck with Mary. I had a question, and she e-mailed me back directly and gave me the information on the spot.

I've since got my non-id info from the Children's Bureau and everything the state sent seemed to be correct. Fortunetly for me, they weren't as carefull with the white out and it was pretty much identifying info.

Question ISO Bson 7/1982 b. Munster, IN-finalized Marion cnty

Hi--not sure if you are all still reading this thread or not...I emailed Mary h a few times in the last 3 weeks, and she didn't respond right away, as she had in the past. Yesterday, I had called the agency I know I used--they told me the records from lutheran child fam services were moved when they were bought out and could not find my name at all on the 'microfiche', but that FT Wayne prob had them--I asked for the # there, and was told "no, I will call there tomorrow for you", well today just happens Mary emailed me telling me the only non-id I can have comes from the "original Birth certificate"---well...hummmph, then it isn't non-id it is all about my info! LOL--it tells me something is amiss with my info as well! The non-id I should be getting should contain info on the apars, not myself!
here is what she wrote exactly "The non-identifying information is taken from the original birth
certificate. The information would not change" (MH).

I did get a little tidbit I didn't have before--the adoption was finalized in Marion County--and that I would have to use L. Baxter to search.

anyone else have this issue of files disappearing, and being told they are not entitled to non-id???? this is absurd to me! I was 15 yrs old---if only I had known what I know now!!!

Alison "Renee"ISO Bson 7/27/82 Munster Community Hospital Munster, IN DR Luna, Lutheran child fam services, found out today adoption was finalized in Marion county

I am not surprised...

Let me see, first I was told that there was not any information. then I was told that they found something but at it discussed was that my mother was overweight, then I was told that they do not have any more information...

Oh wait there is more...

then I was told that my information was in Anderson Indiana at the court house, then I was told that it was sent to Albuquerque NM where I was born, then they told me that it was still in Anderson, then I was told that my file was destroyed when a water pipe burst in the records room a long time ago...

i spoke with matthew halas a few months ago to find out where my recent request for non-identifying information was, (i thought i had forgotten to put a copy of my signature in the request!) and he said that he found my request from 1991! he still had to petition the court for the info. and i got the info within a couple of weeks. so keep in mind when mary hinds can't get the information to you, it may be that the court did not approve the petition! that just my thoughts on the matter. i don't want to talk bad about mary hinds, she probably doing what she's been told to do.

Question wow

So you all are telling me when I mailed the pink and blue in the info (little tiny there was) might not be all there is there..for 1, and there is someone else there besides mary h? and 2--even though the Lutheran office here told me I wasn't entitled to non-id, I am? I thought all sides of the adoption triad were entitled in IN...and to more than just a bdate (which i swear can be changed) and weight, length etc...The only peice of info I got back then was that the parents were born in IN---but if it is coming off the original like Mary's email said--that would be me--and I wasn't!!

I am going to call FT Wayne myself--have to wait until Monday now i am sure! I am also going to refile my forms I think---maybe I will get something more?? I just don't want to waste their time--but I have only filed once (7yrs ago)--and sent my new addy through email to MH once--then the emails a few weeks ago--no response until yesterday though.

I just asked for non-id...I want to know their occupations, and simple stuff even Michigan gives out...I did ask if I gave them a name could they confirm or deny---I even asked mary h the same question...she ignored it!

Just a little note...my adoption was through Indiana (myself) I was adopted by my step dad when I was 5...they screwed up my "original bc" (looks real) by saying my dad was one age--when he was actually much younger! I just caught that this year--he is 60 now--and would have been 20 when I was born! they had him 24 or 25 on my bc, lol. My adoption was handled in IN, but my BC came from CO where I was born.

OH--and should I follow any certain call script when I call FT Wayne--the lady in the Griffith office sounded purturbed with me! She couldn't believe I wanted info is the feeling I got, and very protective...I asked for FT Wayne's # she told me no--that she would call! maybe she's blown it for me already--who know's....But she never called me back! Instead I suddenly got an email back from Mary H instead---could be connected....

1 more question---they have to petition for non-id? Just for a CI right? (that's what I always thought anyhow)

Thanks everyone!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Alison
ISO Bson 7/27/82 Munster, IN munster Community Hospital DR Luna, Lutheran child fam services just found out adoption was finalized in Marion County...this I found a match--all the info matches except the bdate--everything else matches (I think) and I still am waiting to get a email back on the finalization county.

all I got on my non identifying was my birthdate, my weight, (no time of birth), my mother was black, 19 and born in south carolina. I had filed my original pink and blue forms in 1991 and refiled a few months ago and was finally given the information. also on my bc my parents were given at my adoption says "not stated" in the city born. my aparents claimed they picked me up directly from the hospital in indianapolis indiana, but now i don't even know if i was born there! so frustrating...

Me too

I am frustrated with the way this all works! I was made so many promises when my bson was born--lies more like it--I do often wonder if info was changed BEFORE anything reached the state level? If the apars had money--could they make it happen?

How many people have "found" and then found out a bdatre was wrong, non-id was way off--even counties of finalization weren't what they claimed (that is a hard one to prove).

I also have another question as far as state to agency goes...

Question oops...clicked enter on accident

Is the state involved at the time of the initial relinquishment? I mean beyond the court stuff? I never went to court, my dad did in my place because I was a minor (15). And is there paperwork out there I should have been given to keep? I am guessing it was all up to the agency to "get it right" from the beginning--and then whoever copies over the info to transfer it right--
too many hands in the pot if you ask me!

I do have another question---wearing you all out yet??
What was the average age (top end) Apar to be accepted to adopt through an agency?

I am fairly certain my possible bson and I are going to have DNA---it is the only way we will know--and they can't change those results!!!!

Thanks for all the reply's----I'll keep reading until I find answers :-)

Hi Renee! I think at this point, you'd be best off to have the DNA done. Then you can bypass all this crap they're trying to hand you. And it would probably cost a lot less than the CI. Just my opinion, lol. At least then you'd know concerning this particular boy.

Angry update

Well, Mary Lied to me---his adoption was NOT finalized in Marion County---it was finalized in Lake--His Birthdate WAS changed! It is off by 17 days! The match I found HERE is my birth son! If he didn't know his birth hospital, and my age I would have never contacted him--I am very fortunate he knew this information--but it was part--he had other information that was switched (think I mentioned this before) but in order for him to be able to do anything about this, we need a DNA test done--and I will be more than happy to help him! I can't believe they had the nerve to do something like this---and it wasn't just 1 person...it had to be all of them--by who's coaxiing...hmmm, not sure, but I am sure Lutheran cfs had something to do with it, along with the court/judges OK to do it--unless they just take what they are told as fact withotu proof---don't think so---dr had to sign the BC---grrr...don't trust a word they say! If you find a post that is sim--check it out for yourself---don't leave a post that has a slight amount of truth to it--if I would have believed he was born 7/10 and that it was a coincidence it was the same hospital--I might not of ever found him--i pursued it and until it is clear just how many people they could have affected doing this--don't trust the info!

I am angry--blowing my top--but am sooooo fortunate that I am in the beginning of an excellent relationship with my birth son---we had a terrific time this past weekend---and I plan to go back soon ---he grew up near me (10 mins away)! And later moved to OH! Only 7 hours away--All the pics of the weekend are on my myspace--- Renee6782 or use my email addy :-)

Good luck!! I plan on sticking around in these groups---prob forever--best support a person can ask for--I plan on giving back!

Angry dates

Hi Tammy,

His adoption was done in 82, July. It was Lutheran Child family services. I am so happy to be able to do the DNA-
it is upsetting that they had the nerve to change dates. I can't believe they would even think this was right--we'll have the results in just 12-14 days (about)!

I wouldn't leave any date that is close alone. I would check them all--look for familar info--and respond to those posts...just to see if anything else matches!

I think we have considered going to the newspaper with it. If it doesnt do any good for his case, it will bring attention to adoption searching in general. I think it will help. I say think--but the only thing we are unsure of is whether or not to wait on the dna results, or do it now...and then give them the results.
I just know it needs to get out that these people do--did--and can--lie! It is horrible to me--fraud, a form of identity theft, and against what I believe is a birthright!

wow---I am angry still---I know it doesn't do any good to be angry--I guess taking action would do more good than this. I am just hoping legally, he can get back some of what was taken from him...

Renee

I can't tell you how happy I am for you. Then on the other end how fustrated/overwhelmed I am for myself. I did contact OmniTrace to help but they are really exspensive. I am trying to put some money aways a save for it. They did promise a contact within 1year or no charge. But they want 1300 bucks. Has any every used them?

Hi Mil,

Yep! I sent for the kit...legal kit too! 256 dollars total (shipping, lab, and results)
I have talked to him every day since we saw each other, and just about every day before. He asked if he could come to Indiana! Of course I said yes...of course this means I have to clean my messy house! I am going there again this coming weekend...with the test! We will have to ask someoen there to witness the swabs...should be easy--a waitress, or someone from the AD group...
Pheww...roller-coaster rides are exillerating!

I'll talk to you this coming week sometime:-)
