Baby XYZ's adoptive father and his biological daughter... A MUST READ!!!
Yes this is Lunas from the BabyXYZ DOB 11/17/75 post... Check this out!!!!!!
Believe it or not looking for your birth family can lead you in some really strange places. Let me start from the beginning. You know I am looking for my biological mother, right? Well, I went to a genealogy website for information on my birth mother and didn't see any new updates and so I decided to see if there was any information on my father's side of the family since he never talked about his family and there was this link: Genealogy forum So I looked up her email address on the board by clicking on her name and emailed her. Well, I asked if she had more information on this Charles E Rusk and she knew that he married a Sandra Rusk and lived somewhere near Chicago. So I emailed her my phone number and lo and behold I found out that this woman was my father's daughter born in January 1971. He married my adoptive mother in July of that same year. It was pretty neat. I told her I wish I had more information than that to give her, but that is all I had. I couldn't wait to tell you all about it. This all took place in less than 24 hours. I got to talking to her and found out that her and my grandfather were pretty close and that he even attended her high school graduation. She seems like a really nice person and is interested in keeping in touch. I guess the moral of the story is look everywhere, you never know who may be looking for information that you may be able to help them out with, also if you look for information on you adoptive family, you may find someone trying to contact you that way. Best of luck to you all!!! EDIT: Oh and if there is anyone else that knows that there biological father is this man, please contact me... maybe there should be a "Children of..." reunion or something... LOL Anyway, if this is your father as well, please contact me and we shall talk! ![]() Last edited by LunaSea : 11-01-2004 at 11:35 PM. |

WOW, Luna.....
So, in effect, she's your "sister" in a round about way? Your adoptive father is this gal's biological daughter? Am I following that correctly? Amazing stuff!! We uncover so much when we start searching the skeleton's in the family closet, eh? Hugs, Sally

Sounds like you understand the situation exactly. When we talked on the phone yesterday, she referred to herself as the big sister! Way cool. I grew up an only child so this is so far as close to a sister I have come to. I am currently trying to flush out some more information on my adoptive father. Come to find out he was apparently quite the Don Juan.
LOL Anyway, I had to share and I would love to hear about anyone else that may have had a similar experience when gathering information on biological family members (adoptees, birthparents, etc) or adoptive family members. |

It's just not the same, but........
I was searching for my biological father. When I got a copy of my OBC, there was a handwritten 5 behind the father's name. I called the state and asked if that meant I was the fifth child; they told me they really didn't know.
When I found that my father had passed away in 1972, I found that I had 7 brothers (I had always wanted an older brother, and all along I had 4). Four boys were from the first marriage, I was from an affair he had with my mother while married, and 3 boys by the second marriage. Talk about Don Juan! The oldest brother passed away in 1993 at the age of 50. I have talked with the youngest of the first four (lives in Hawaii) and he says his 2 older brothers are somewhere near Omaha, NE and the youngest 3 are in California. I hope to find the other 5 boys in time to send Christmas cards to them! Linda

No new news on the biological mom front... Although I got some pics from my "sister" and sure enough she is sitting with my grandfather. She looks alot like him and dad. It was really strange. I am still trying to put some pieces together with regards to him, so I have quite a bit on my plate. No news from either Cochran... I am beginning to think that maybe I should have used more general terms like you suggested. Well, regardless, no contact yet. I still have the mailing addys that you sent to me so I will try those next.
Also, any idea on how to keep the conversation going with my new found sister??? I want to desparately find some common ground, but I just don't know where to begin. I am horrible at staying in touch with those that I am closest to... let alone someone I just met. Any ideas??? I sure could use some! ![]() |

My life needs to be on Springer or Maury!!!
Okay get this... (if you can all follow) my adopted dad was married to my adopted mom until her death in 1979 he was remarried on New Years 1981. This woman, my step mother, passed in 1994 at which time my dad and I spoke for the last time... He called to tell me she passed away. (With me so far?) Okay well I had tried to call and call and call him after this happened and he never returned my calls. I called on day and I got a message saying that the number had been disconnected, so I called my step sister (the step mom's biological daughter) and she said that my dad had moved to Florida with his new wife (this is in June my step mom passed in February) but that she was too embarrassed to tell me who it was he married. Well I finally got it out of her after all these years after I explained the situation with my newly found sibling. My dad married my step mom's sister!!!!! With in a month or 2 of his wife's passing!!!!! Her sister!!!!!!!! Good Gravy! Can you possibly even imagine.
I think I am going to make some phone calls to the big talk shows! This is a story too strange to be true! LMAO!!! |
