Meg,
Hey there! I am an Indiana Adoptee, born in 1964, and I was wondering if you had registered with the state's mutual consent registry, or if you have considered using the Confidential Intermediary program in our state -- there is money involved in the CIP program, but the registry is free. Beloe is some Indiana information, from the search guru, Colleen, here at the forum. Maybe you will find it helpful in contacting the proper people here in Indiana. If you ever want to talk, I am here!!! Best of luck! Hugs, Sally If you know what adoption agency handled your adoption contact them for information from your adoption file that will help you with your search. If you were a private adoption or do not know the name of the adoption agency contact this office: Indiana Division of Family and Children 402 Washington Street, Room W-364 Indianapolis, IN 46201 (317) 232-4769 Fax: (317) 232-4436 World Wide Web: http://www.state.in.us/fssa/adoption E-mail: ningle@fssa.state.in.us INFORMATION THAT IS AVAILABLE IN YOUR STATE: “Non-identifying information” is information from your adoption file about your birth parents. It generally includes ages, marital status, states of birth, education, religion, occupations and a physical description of your birth parents. It should also include the reason for relinquishment and may include information about your aunts, uncles and grandparents. It is called “non-identifying information” because it does not include any identifying information such as names, addresses or social security numbers. If you already have your non-identifying information but it is information given to your adoptive parents at the time of your adoption you should re-apply for the non-identifying information. Agencies are giving out much more comprehensive information now that they did in the past. “Mutual Consent Registry” is a registry where adoptees and birth parents can register the adoption information. If both parties register normally the agency responsible for the registry will notify both parties that consent has been given to contact each other. The Mutual Consent Registry can be used by adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, relatives of deceased adoptees and relatives of deceased birth parents. Contact this office for more information: Indiana Adoption History Registry Indiana State Department of Health, Vital Statistics 2 North Meridian Street, Section B-4 Indianapolis, IN 46206-1964 (317) 233-7523

Hi Kelley,
thank you for resonding to me, i actually lived in Idaville but went to jr high and high school in monticello and was born at the hospital there in monticello. my adopted families name is goodnight and after my divorce i took my maiden name back just in case my b-fam might be looking. i know very little about my adoption except that dr beck delivered me, the adoption was done by county family services, and i was bone 3/4/1963, delivered to my adopted family 3/8/1963. i did find a couple of interesting names associated with posts i made on other web registries but have not been able to run down any info on either name yet. do either of these names ring any bells with you or your family -- Betty Hill or Tonya Arnold? i also had a brother that came to live with us when i was 4 yrs old and he was also 4 yrs old, he had been removed from a family for neglect and placed up for adoption and my adopted parents got him. he was from somewhere around monticello but was born in lafayette home hospital. his b date was 12/11/1962. he has passed on and i often wonder if any one in his birth family would like this info. it was nice to visit with you, please contact me at any time. you may use my direct email at melody@spindlemedia.com if you like. kindest regards, melody |

Melody,
I am sorry, but those names do not sound familiar to me. My grandfather was a doctor from Monticello, unfortunately he died in the late 70's. I will see if I can find out anything. I went to school with a Goodnite, possibly a cousin. She was from Idaville too. Kelley |
