Passport Requirements under new citizenship law for travel!

Since Feb. 28th under the new adoption laws, she has received automatic U.S. citizenship. Do we need to apply for U.S. PASSPORT or can we still travel to India using her Indian passport?? My husband believes it is unnecessary since everyone is still confused about this new law. It would be much easier for us to use her old Indian passport rather than apply for a U.S. one. The time factor and fear of losing important documents while applying for passport makes me wish that we could avoid that for the present. Any feedback would be much appreciated! Savi
