Cost of Adoption, what am I missing ?
I was informed by a US Agency that the cost to adopt a child from India would be as under :
$ 3000 Agency fees $ 1500 US lawyer $ 500 INS applications $ 1000 child maintenance to the Indian orphanage ------------- $ 6000 Total ------------- I was given to understand that the cost of adopting a child from India runs to about 25,000 dollars including travel. Apart from Travel, what costs am I missing here ? I lok forward to a reply. Thanks.

costs or fees and choosing an agency

As far as the total fees for an average adoption from India, they range from about $11,000 all the way up. Keep in mind that the agencies with the highest fees, do not necessarily have the 'best' programs. Do your homework and one suggestion may be to subscribe to the ICHILD mailing list and ask other adoptive families about their experience with any particular agency or children's home in India. Hope this helps, Beth PK
