India questions

As of 2009 are India adoptions still happening for non-Indian Americans? Can someone refer me to an agency they trust? Also what are the time frames for start to finish...roughly? Any info on this would be great as we are just getting started on this journey!

Count on 2 years, start to finish. There are lots of good agencies, but you may be drawn to one that has an orphange in an area of India that you have connections with, is located close to you, or has less expensive fees. Best to narrow down to a few agencies and then get input from others.

My husband and I are looking to possibly adopt through All God's Children. It is a Christian organization, there are a few others as well (Love Basket is one that also comes to my mind). As far as regular non-profit organizations I haven't looked into them too much but I know there are a lot of options out there.

We started our homestudy in 7/2006, and brought our son home in 3/2008. I can provide our experiences and lessons learned along the way if you'd like. Private message me if you want more info.
