Children's IQs
I am looking into adopting a child from India and saw on some website that children's IQs are available. Is this common practice in India? (I am not criticizing it, I am just wondering). Also, what age do they start testing the children?
Thanks |

I have never heard of IQ information being collected or given out routinely, in India or any other country.
I would imagine that, if you adopted a school aged child, you might receive some school records, and that those records might include IQ. I would also imagine that, if you were adopting an older child with known or suspected mental retardation, the medical report might include IQ. Be aware that IQ is not a particularly good measure of what internationally adopted children can achieve. No matter how well a test tries to measure pure "ability", it is affected by the environment in which a child has been living and the experiences that he/she has had. Sharon Sharon
